A Young movie producer; Francis Agbetsoamedo popularly known in the industry and beyond as Agbett has stated his worry and dissatisfaction about future of upcoming actors and actresses during a timeout with campus360gh.com.
He stated that, a common reason why upcoming actors and actresses in Ghana can't pursue their dream in the movie industry is due to what he described as 'fear to dare' and the alarming unnecessary demand from some key players (some established producers and directors) in the industry.
He explained that most upcoming actors and actresses have a notion which is fast developing into fear that, their hardwork and absolute commitment might not pay off. This is because, they are mostly in doubt about their role and the probability of being on the screen. Therefore, in order not live in a world of fantasy, they will rather not give in their all.
He further stated that the fear or unwillingness of these upcoming talents to invest in the project they are partaking in, is one thing that is preventing them from reaching the top. He identified these investment variables as T&T, set fee, Feeding etc. "They have this doubts and questions like, what if this project never comes out? What if am not giving a better role to play? Hmmm is true but I always tell my people this, everybody wants to act but not everyone is a passionate actor or actress. Many of them are chasing after quick fame which shouldn't be the case." he said.
He ended his lamentation by stressing the role of some established directors in the industry. He stated that, they are significantly a contributing factor to the collapsing movie industry in Ghana. He asked; " Why should it be that you have to demand sex from this upcoming ones just because they want opportunity to exhibit their dreams and talents? Is high time the Ghana movie industry stand on its feet and put measures in place to help this upcoming ones so we can build the industry together again.
To my fellow upcoming ones if you can kill your fear then I promise you a bright future in the industry. Don't rush, stay focus and let's build a better future together.
