The unabated ordeals young people have to endure in the Ghanaian communities especially in the northern part of the country still remains a conundrum. The speed at which these heinous conditions are proliferating has become an enigma in the minds of most Ghanaians.
The Extra Mile Ghana🇬🇠is one such organization changing one life after the other in our societies. Thus, as part of our three (3) day social impact tour to the Upper West Region, we visited Dayiri; a town outskirt the Wa East municipality. From Puyetanga, one popular town at Wa to this place is approximately 45minutes drive.
With Over 500 natives including 229 children and about 299 adults. Development is at its minimal in the Dayiri community. Settlers of this community lack basic social structures to develop themselves. Clothing, education, clean water and proper sanitation are some major problems confronting Dayiri.
Over years, people living in this community are being neglected but the visit of the Extra Mile Ghana🇬🇠brought a season of merry, togetherness and joy. One could espy the exhilaration in the eyes of these northerners when the Extra Mile Team identified with them. The rich culture of the north were displayed through music and energetic dance.
The Extra Mile donated 100 exercise books to the only school in the community with less than 50 students, over 5000 clothing including shoes, sandals and belts, food and water. The Chief of the town thanked the Extra Mile Team for honouring his community and further endorsed the SDGs which he believes is a powerful tool that can liberate his people from poverty. Latter this year, The Extra Mile Ghana🇬🇠hopes to complete a washroom facility in this community.
We believe young organizations like ours have a prominent role to play to better the lives of Ghanaians in less privileged societies like Dayiri
