The National Petroleum Authority(NPA) has been charged by Dr Mohammed Amin, Deputy Energy Minister to start the implementation of the Cylinder Recirculation Model (CRM) from Kumasi. This is because the metropolis has been identified with a number of high risks Liquefied Petroleum Gas(LPG) stations.
Dr Amin proposed that to ensure the smooth implementation process, there is the need to set up a task force. He said this during a visit to the victims of the Tuesday gas explosion in Krofrom. He was accompanied by Alhassan Tampuli; Chief Executive of NPA and Osei Assibey; Mayor of Kumasi.
'The initiative is to close down all high risks stations, which will be converted to cylinder distribution points. This is where consumers can exchange their empty cylinders for already filled ones' says Dr Amin.
He added that the CRM is safe, secured and it's the ultimate remedy to curb these gas explosion menace. Therefore, he continued to urge the general public to wholeheartedly welcome this initiative since when high risks stations are wiped out of our residential setting, gas explosion phenomenon will significantly reduce.
