Marijuana, one favorite delicacy I would say for some people has over the years attracted eye brows on its legalization in some countries. Recently, it was announced that South Africa has legalized the use of marijuana and agitation has started in most African countries especially Ghana on its decriminalization. This has roped in bigger persons from the media fraternity to also add their views on its legalization of which Kwame Sefa Kayi of despite media group take on its legalization has become a hullabaloo in the country which it shouldn't be so for it is his idea.
I have never hated marijuana, No! But I hate it when smokers roam around and pollute the air when they turn it into weed. I hate it when they ply the public toilet with nonsmokers; smoke to make the air impure to the already awful stench a Ghanaian public toilet will welcome you with. Just imagine this toilet stench featuring a cigarette or weed smoke...That is for you to decide. I hate it when their piece disorganizes their mentality and makes them behave as though when God was giving sense they were left out.
I hate it when they smoke their piece and claim they are high but they still wallow on the earth without even suspending for a second for we to say indeed they are high.
For me, I will always hate it when they gather around a smoking machine popularly known as "shisha" stocked it with weed inhale like oxygen and exhale through their noses and spread diseases while polluting the air to persons who are yearning for a pure breathing space.
Should legalization of weed be implemented in Ghana? Let me gape for air and rant my ideas too for a columnist will always add some piece to spice up the already spiced argument to make it more salty for a few who will sit before the salty meal with him. A columnist will not convince you to carry his thoughts but will make some sense and it's up to you to decide whether to carry or not.
I don't hate marijuana, I don't smoke weed but I use part of it as a result of some hair products. As part of God's creation, why should I hate it? Maybe my comments on it will not be friendly to those who use it especially smokers but I can never hate Marijuana when myself and it are two different things. For heaven sake it is just a leave...
Let's make some sense here. Let us look at cigarette. I know it's a legalized commodity and people patronize and smoke it anywhere and anyhow. What law is made to control it's smoking? Even if there's a law preventing others from smoking in public, how effective is this law? If the laws are left ajar on a common control of cigarette smoking how then can we trust the implementation of marijuana control in this country? How effective can we be assured that people will not abuse it anyhow to disrupt the breathing space of the nonsmoker aside is numerous health challenges it carries? Marijuana has a lot of benefits but as a country when we legalize it those who smoke it will abuse it hence increasing indiscipline in the country.
To end, the legalization of Marijuana can't be a thing we should think of because our laws are not strong to meet the effective control of it. I will always discard its implementation unless our laws are strengthen first. When the laws are strengthened we can think about legalizing it and not for only smoking purpose but for commercial purpose which will salvage our burdened economy for development.
