"I will continue to ask for more like Oliver twist"- GIJ Rector to government

The acting Rector of the Ghana Institute of journalism ,Dr. Fosu Modestus said he will not relent in an effort to making the school a better one. Dr. Fosu said it's long overdue since the school battles with infrastructure challenges.
Dr. Fosu speaking at school's 12th congregation ceremony in Accra said although 5million cedis has been allocated to the school for development, he will not resist to ask for more as Oliver twist said in ensuring that the school's old and new Campuses in Osu and okponglo all in Accra to be fully equipped and developed. He made this revelation after president Akuffo Addo announced that 5million cedis will be given to the school.
Meanwhile, as part of an effort to expand universities in Ghana to accommodate free SHS students who will be graduating next 2 years, government has allocated an amount of 5 million cedis to the Ghana Institute of journalism (GIJ) for a face-lift.

Speaking at the same 12th congregation ceremony, the president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo said 5 million cedis will be given to the school to solve its embattled infrastructural challenges.

According to the president, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) will be released to the school to secure them a well-developed structure to enhance training as the nation's premium communication university.
“An initial moderate amount of 5 million cedis has been allocated to GIJ in the 2018 budget and the least I can do is to make sure that GETFund release this money to you as soon as possible to help complete the first of many lecture halls complexes and offices here”, the president disclosed.
He added that government through the ministry of education will support the School's faculty to ensure an upgrade.
President Akufo-Addo however, advised journalists and media owners to desist from sensational and breaking news headlines without due diligence.
In all, 870 students were awarded Diploma and Bachelor of Arts certificate for their various field such as Journalism, Public Relations and communication.
