Dear @NAkufoAddo , I really admire what you’re doing about the shs system and I think is great. I just want to make a suggestion for those who would be home and waiting for the second semester.
I think the system can be made in such a way that the people who are home wouldn’t just stay idle . They can enroll at firms and institutions related to what they are to study in school and practically learn a lot before they start school. And it’s a plus for them.
For instance, the potential home econs students can be assigned to a bakery or food firm , the visual art student also maybe assigned to an art firm, the business student as well can be made to help in helping small scale business with their ideas and the other courses as well.
When this is done, the students gain enough knowledge and practical skills which they can apply in class . Something learnt practically is not easily forgotten than theory. So that’s what I suggest !
Also , about universities, I was thinking if some courses which may not be that relevant to students in certain programs can be forgone and serve as opportunity for students to take their knowledge to the field.
I mean , let’s say the first 2years is for learning of courses very related to the program the students are pursuing and then the latter 2years for practical and field involvement in the work field. The long vacation internship helps but is not for long.
Let’s take the law students or Agriculture students for instance , they need the theory yes but they need the practicals too hugely, they need to understand all that goes on and if this kind suggestion is taking in consideration, it would help them a lot during and after school.
The law students can even be assigned to certain lawyers to aid them with their work . And after the 2years still graduate but this time with great knowledge and can easily build his or her own firm or company. 1district 1factory can be easy when student know how to go about it.
