Who is a superman?

Yesterday, a conversation with four friends at Church, drifted into the topic of super heroes and super powers. One of us said that he did not understand how such heroes, even with all their abilities had to allow the villain in the movie to beat them up till the point of death before they fight back and win. Another said he had stopped watching such movies because they were too fictitious. What I shared with them, I share with you today.

In my opinion, superheroes are not superheroes only because of their superpowers. Super heroes are seen as such because of their humanness despite their super abilities. Superheroes are celebrated because they fight for humanity and live a life of love.

Capitalism has rendered most of us self-centered. In the pursuit of success, most people forget their humanness and become completely money conscious. Consequently, love, which is the fabric of our society, has been shredded into invisible pieces.

Pursue success. Seek money. But do it not at the expense of other human beings. Seek wealth but don't be ruthless in that endeavour. That makes you a villain.You are a human being in a human world not a machine.

Funny enough, a heroe and villain are both superhuman: both have extra abilities than other humans. The difference is that the villain uses his powers for selfish gains while the heroe uses his for the good of society.

Be a hero. Use your super thinking ability, your skills, your knowledge, your opportunities to the benefit of society.Don't forget family, friends, benefactors and the fate of other humans as you become a superhuman.

Superman is superman because superman is first and foremost human.
